What gpu do you have with your 5800x3d?

It really depends on what you play, and what FPS you're aiming for. I upgraded from a 6800 XT to a 5080 paired with a 5800X3D, and while performance was improved a lot, I did notice CPU limitations in games I play a lot that irked me. Hence I swapped to a 9800X3D.

Having said that, generally speaking the 5800X3D is a still a solid gaming CPU.

Originally had a 3900X with my 3070 (2021) but then upgraded to the 5800X3D in early 2023. I play 1440p at my desk and for the most part it still performs really well (a repaste for both is on the cards though). Although my most played title is iRacing/driving sims on an 34" ultrawide 1440p and looking to upgrade to triples possibly later in the year/early next year - so thinking of a complete new build.

I have a 5900x on a 570x with a 7900Gre whhich runs great but the Am5 upgrade will need to be done this year as hopefully i will have more options going forward

Have a 7800xt Pulse with my 5700x3d. Seems a really great pairing at 3440x1440

Won't be upgrading from AM4 until it starts to struggle which I can't see being for quite a while yet, CPU doesn't really break a sweat

My brother's running the exact same system but with a standard 16:9 1440p monitor. It's a brilliant setup for high/ultra settings at that resolution. You can really get a lot of mileage out of a relatively modest system if you stick to 1440p these days...

Yeah absolutely. Feels like the utter sweet spot :)
