What GPU shall I spend some of my redundancy on?

So the shop I work at is being closed in a couple of months and I'll be getting some redundancy money

I don't mean to sound offensive but if you have no job to go to then I would save the money until you get another job mate.

When you do get another job blow your redundancy on something special as a little present to yourself.

.... and starve yourself whilst you wait for your Job Seekers to be paid ?

Just be sensible OP. £800 is not a lot of money

somehow, although everyone would like to get new and shiney stuff, i'd have to agree with this.
you really shouldnt spend outside of your means. but im not your mother, so its up to you do decide how you spend your cash ;p

i'd say if you're dead set on wanting to get a new gfx card, the 670 windforce gets my vote xD

I agree don't spend outside your means but with me personally I'm an idiot with money and all of it goes right into the pc and this website every single time I get some. I had a spare £150 today and bought a 256gb SSD on a whim lol

So the shop I work at is being closed in a couple of months and I'll be getting some redundancy money, not masses, but enough to put part of it towards a nice GPU as a me-present. Looking to collect some views on what GPU you would get if you could have any one at all (and most importantly why). currently looking at either a 680 or possibly even a 690, but spending £800 on a GPU doesnt feel right. is the 690 really worth the price tag? Will it mean I wont need an upgrade for like 5 or 6 years?

Wouldn't it be wiser for you to keep hold of the money until you got another job?? You could alway spend it then.

It wouldn't suprise me if by January,the HD8970 has been released(consistent with the one year cadence AMD seems to be keeping ATM) or even a GK110 based card.

a single 670 eats anything you throw at it bar multimonitor gaming (although i run max payne 3, diablo 3 just fine in 5760x1080). The Windforce is an amazing card, cool, quiet, seriously fast and backed by a proven warranty.

Most clock to around 1275-1300mhz which is past stock 680 speeds. Hell mine will do 1360mhz in a heaven benchmark beating all the overclocked 680's on the benchmark thread;

Thanks for your input everyone, I think my mind is set on the 670 windforce, save some money and get near enough the performance of a 680. to those advising me to wait until I get another job, I appreciate your concern, I really do, but I'm not a fool with money, I'll be fine ;P
