What GPU should I buy with £135?

Most expensive 8 core bulldozer = Worse than an i5 2500k or just about on par, They're best is as good as intel's 2nd gen mid range chip.

As much as you are an AMD fan, There older stuff was good, there newer stuff is not.

Stick with the i5 750, AM cooler, Clock it to the sky.

7850 seems pretty good at the moment, or possibly a Nvidia 560ti?

It's not like this is a 70:30 split in people's opinion. It's all stick with cpu

If some said I will give you a bulldozer chip for free but you must sell your i7 920 I would decline even though I would be "better off"

Another vote for "stick with your CPU" here.

Here is a review which compares the performance of the i5 750 and the FX-6100 in a range of games.

As you can see from that test - the i5 750 tends to beat the AMD FX-8150, nevermind the FX-6100.

The i5 750 and LGA1156 boards were first launched in Autumn 2009. Since retail CPUs and most decent brand motherboards (like ASUS, gigabyte etc.) come with a 3 year warranty then you should still be covered if any of these parts are faulty. Fixing your existing system would be much cheaper than buying a new one - and would actually offer better performance than an FX-6100 system.

If you really must get a new system then I would recommend a Z68 or Z77 board and either a second-hand i5 2500K or a new low-end Sandy bridge or Ivy bridge i5. Also the HD 7850 2GB is a great GPU and also the one I would go with (since it performs great, overclocks very well, runs cool/quiet and has loads of VRAM).

May I ask what your full system spec is including motherboard and PSU make and model number?

My i5-760 is fine even at stock for everything I do. Bf3 with slight overclock of gpu / CPU runs at 1920 * 1080 at 60fps or more, encoding is fine etc. As above be very careful not to waste money.
