What GPU/system where you running in 2007 for Crysis?

I built a PC for crysis, i gave it a quick go on my amd 4400+ and x850xtpe and it looked great so i sunk about 3k into a Core2 system with 8800ultra sli then was delighted to find i was getting 3fps more than my friend with his 8800gtx system for about half the price , i maybe should have done a bit more research on that one :p Still have about 10 waterblocks kicking around from that system in a box somewhere, even the cards are kicking around somewhere.

Ah crap 2007 spec. Had me jogged my memory for a few hours finally remembered what my PC spec was back in 2007.

Athlon 64 X2 4400+
ASUS A8N-E Motherboard
4GB OCZ Gold PC3200 RAM
Gainward Geforce 8800 GTX
Windows Vista 64 bit

Very pleased with Crysis performance but I thought dual core was amazing and expected to last for very long time until I was shocked to see how crap Athlon 64 X2 4400+ was with GTA IV ran like slideshow after 3 years.

In 2007 I was running,

Athlon 64 X2 4800+ 2.4ghz (stock)
4GB DDR2
BFG 8800 GTX
MSI K8N Neo 4 Platinum Board

Ran it ok, think it was at 1680x1050.

Originally the benchmark didn't support SLI very well - for the first couple of months or so the only way to get proper SLI scaling was via tweaking the SLI profile using a 3rd party tool.

If my mind serves correct, I was running a Q6600 and went for an 8800GT (from a 8500), which did really well over the 8500. Not sure if I had the Q chip then or after though.

E6400, 2GB RAM, Asrock hybrid mobo, X1950 Pro. Played the game nicely at medium settings 1280x1024 despite the mobo (had both PCIe and AGP) running OCIe at 4x. I soon upgraded to a P35 mobo, Q9400 and HD4870 512Mb, they gave a fantastic experience.

That explains a lot :) I just ended up using the DX9 config instead, it seemed to double the FPS and still looked great with a little editing.

I was going to link to some of my older posts about it and using nHancer to get proper SLI scaling in the benchmark - but looking back I was being a bit of a **** about it and not very complimentary about people who didn't get SLI working properly in the game.

AMD 4200 x2, 2GB RAM & an x1950GT!

Then I played crysis warhead with an 8800GT & E6420 @ 3.2Ghz. A much better experience!

I think I had my 7800GT when the demo came out but bought an 8800GT on release which was around the game's release iirc. Ran it much better :p

Remember playing the pre-release demo just before the release date on my laptop with a 8600GT.... I almost cry I could only really play at low settings, however a few months later I bought a new pc with Q6600(OC 3.2GHz), 8800GTS 512MB

I specifically upgraded just for crysis, ocuk order below! (Amusingly I only just upgraded from that monitor, 10 years old, going strong :))
