What GPU ..to play Fortnite in 1440p at 240FPS.?

Hello all,

So I have started to get the bits together for my son's Gaming PC.

I would like advice on what GPU I should be looking for please - But I am on a budget.

We have 240Hz monitor - So what GPU(s) should I be looking for him ...to play Fortnite in 1440p at 240 please?

my son as a 4070s. runs this game very well on a 240hz screen but i dont know his max fps
what CPU will he be using?

deepening on setting this shows anything from 60fps to 400fps

What cpu have you settled on? Its easier to compliment this and know the platform limitation i.e. AM4.

Thanks - I think 4070 will be out of budget.

I was hoping to spend around £200-£300 max on a GPU

before that he used a 4060 and a 3070 with DLSS both gave a very good gaming experience he only as the 4070s as i upgraded and gave it to him.

good CPU, depending on what you paid and where from, a 5700x3d would be a lot better suited to your needs and with DLSS the x3d chips are amazing at 1440p

You don't really want to use upscalers if you are after that 240hz every frame counts competiveness. If this is the case then a 1080p monitor would be better for shooters and you would not need such a meaty GPU (less expensive).

FPS You have to take into account detail settings as low detail is easier to reach than epic detail.

I understand that competitive shooters are best played at low detail if that helps, but maybe check in with your son on his plans

Something on the level of a 6700xt should be your budget then. As there is more nuanced detail that is lacking here it is hard to advise beyond that.

Anything decent should absolutely slay Fortnite at those specs. my 2080/3700x can handle fortnite at that level just fine.

at 1440p 240fps? i didnt realize it was then light to run or do you run low settings

Correct, you can go to potato level details and its easy street. If your not wanting dips much below 240, and running native 1440p but do not want it to look potato that is an interesting discussion.
