What graphics card to buy?

Would there be a huge difference between a x800xtpe which i can get for £150 and the £250 card were discussing above?

I want to play games such at HL2 and Doom3, Call of Duty 2 ect ect at 1280*1024 with high graphics with a bit of AA and AF. Wont the x800xtpe do this?

Yes it will

It's just a previous gen card so it'll struggle a little with the latest games but it'll be fine with those games

For £150 you'd be better to buy a 7600GT over an X800XTPE

Not to forget the SM3 capabilities of the x1xxx cards compared to the x8xx cards. I picke dup a x1800xt 512mb yesterday for £220, P&P included. Got it this morning, still lacking a PSU but i shall get that in a few days time. I'd strongly suggest the x1800xt,it's a next gen card, and it'll cope with all of todays demands, and a handful of tomorrows. It's a good investment. Im not a nvidia fan myself, but if you're considering nVidia, then a basic 7900 or top end 7800 would also suit.
