what hair product for slightly curly, thick black hair....do people recommend?
i have short/short medium hair and the effect i want is the japanese/korean hair styles.....
lots of spikes and some texture and shine would be nice.
I'm running out of Gatsby moving rubber texturising gum "grunge" edition (the grey one) so can anyone recommend me a product that can be bought in the UK?
i spent like 20 min looking and feeling in boots today and theres loads....like gel, wax, clay, putty....I chose 2 so far to experiment with: v05 matt clay and l'oreal studio architect wax....the clay for some texture and holding power and the wax for some shine.
btw i just got some ghds for xmas so thats why i'm asking.....first time experimenting with straight hair.

thx, alastair :p

I'm not sure where you can buy it from, try google if it's not in any salons.

I've used it for a few years now and I've tried pretty much everything else and it's the best!

What shampoo / conditioner do you use?

I used to use Garnier Fructus Style Work It Rebound Jelly, but used my GFs Herbal Essences for about a week and now that gel does nothing to my hair. I mean nothing its like I havn't even put it in my hair.

Using V05 Matt Clay now and its good.

Joico spiker is the only gel i've got to work with thick hair, every other gel just wears off after a few hours, not cheap though:(

to the 1st response: i'm metro man......keep up with the times! :D

didn't know the shampoo and conditioner made any difference? i use wash and go btw....but tell me if i should use something else.

VO5 texturising gum :) 100% recommended. suitible for everything and i use it on my rediculously thick hair at all lengths

For hair products it's best to pay a bit more so they don't leave your hair looking ****.

American Crew Fibre stuff is the best but if you can't find that go to boots and get Trevor Sorbie Hair clay (7quid ish) which is a good substitute.

Hair straightners are just too far really and besides the straight look I think is now no longer "in"; it was always gay anyway to be fair.

are you saying this:
or this:

doesn't look cool? lol....to be fair it does take a little bit more effort....but like i mentioned earlier....its the first time in my life i get to play around with straight hair. straightening takes 5 minutes, as the ghds heat up in seconds :D /boasting mode off

I have V05 matt clay, I've used it for years now. Most other gels/waxes won't keep my hair in any kind of style for more than about 30secs!
