What Handbrake encode performance do you get (mainly i5 2500K users but others welcome)

CPU: Intel X5670 @ 4.00GHz
Ram: 12279 MB,

Am i doing this right ?

Tron " average encoding speed for job is 158.070572 fps"
Splice "average encoding speed for job is 75.146828 fps"

Depends on your encoding settings...

Don't think I've tried x264 encoding on Westmere-EP yet. I tend to go for higher quality options anyway so it'd probably still be much slower than QuickSync (Sandy Bridge onwards).

I didnt change anything other than the settings mentioned earlier

Use the Normal Preset.
Set the Contrainer to MKV.
Set the Priority Level to High in the options

The results from the current version of handbrake probably aren't comparable to the version used when this thread was current back in 2011.

Hyperthreading is worth having but only if you find yourself waiting on encodes to finish as it won't give you a 50% increase. In my testing it's between 10-35% depending on the settings used with the 15-25% range being the most common. I have the results of my testing somewhere but can't locate them atm.

Holy thread revival Batman!

A lot has changed since my op, I don't even know if I have Handbrake installed still :p

I think they're even the same heatsink. It does the job, but don't you find it loud :p? What motherboard do you have? The 2600K can easily overclock to 4GHz on stock volts. The i7-3770K may also be compatible with your board (well, it is with my Z68 board).

I've a GA-Z68AP-D3 rev2.0 After checking, you are right, 3770K is also suitable (best check my bios!), which is good stuff.
