Not been looking at computer components for years, but ATI and Nvidia were battling so much back then.

Now it looks like theres no good ATI g/cards. Is this correct?

So according to you all of the ATi card currently out are bad?

They're a generation behind nvidia currently, so they aren't competing in the high end market. That's not to say that they're neccesarily bad cards for the money though.

Why does everybody think that ATI's drivers will improve so much? (general question not a dig)

The card should have been out ages ago so they have had similar time to work on it as Nvidia's.

New Card = Poorly or not as good as the previous generation coded = not as good performance.

Same with X1900s.

Over 5 drivers revisions with my X1900XT went from 10.5k to a shade over 11.5k at the same clocks @ XTX speeds.

I wouldn't be suprised if another 5-10% comes out of the performance tbh.

5-10% isn't near enough though to compete with (the aging) 8800GTX though is it?

I didn't see any mention of GTX but i did see GTS.
And its been siad many times now that the ATI card that is out on the 14th is a GTS competitor so stop moaning.

I didnt see a mention of any cards, I responded to the original question, ati won't compete with nvidia still, as they don't have any card now, or in 2 days that will be faster as the top nvidia card.

I know r600 is to compete with 8800gts, but ati still wont have anything to compete with GTX, as they havn't had for the last 6 months, and they wont with a few driver updates on the r600...

No, but the drivers are all rubbish :(

You been living in a cave for the past year and a bit? ATi drivers have come on leaps and bounds and are now far better and far more frequent then their nV counterparts.

Agreed. Nvidia drivers are turd now, to put it nicely.

It should have been out months and months ago, there's plenty of reason to "moan."

My post was about moaning about its performance.
& so was the post i was replying to.

I took snowdog's post to mean "too little, too late."

From there your post looked as if it was saying "it's out soon so stop moaning."

If I misunderstood then I apologise, but my point still stands. ;)
