What happend to TV guns

With the size of TV`s these days whats happend to the gun genre ?

House of the dead type stuff.

If I remember correctly, they don't work with TFT screens anywhere near as well as they would with CRT's

dont forget the Wii, sort of proves you dont need light guns as such.

now that CRTs are gone (mostly) they only work with a sensor bar like the wii or kinect.

My mate had another type of gun. I cant remember if it was NES or SNES, but it looked much more advanced than the zapper., almost like an RPG. Dammit, what was it called?

I remember those machines being pretty much everywhere (had a house of the dead in my local asda ).

I'd love to see the genre make a come back, I cannot walk past a point blank, house of the dead or time crisis machine without shovelling a few quid in.

Operation Wolf and Thunderbolt were fantastic too, I'd happily shell out for a gun and sensor bar to play games like these again

No, because they are operated by a fixed IR sensor in the corner of the TV, not by specific points on screen.

But you could still 'aim' them just probably not that accurately.

Good first person shooters happened.

There was no need for on-rails shooters because we can play in detailed first person worlds and have full control now.
