What happened to that key counting thing?

Well i'm currently with both and i see no disadvantage with doing both although one would be nice.

I think the whatpulse one is better, the only reason to go for the dolphin one is its got more members.

man ive just been typing loads for dolphin :p tbh if the other ones better lets all convert to that
If we can get members to move to whatpulse that would be best but some people have already got big scores on dolphin.

I just can't get that whatpulse thing going
waiting for the registration documents to come though (filled em in, waiting for email now) but still nothing (half an hour waiting for email)
Mine ended up in my spam filter. Yours may have been caught by a spam filter, check your spam folder.

Edit: Looks like it got caught by your spam filter too.

Stomped bri and drs. :)

I'm wondering how we can incorporate this into a sticky perhaps?

Should it go at the bottom of the boinc faq?

Hmm, wonder if this thread will become legendary like the TKC one was? :p
Hope so, i'm enjoying it already.

Atm theres more competition going on in project dolphin but if a few more of you join whatpulse it will get a bit more fun.

And thats a (dolphin) stomp to mikeymike. :p

Alright, I just signed up for Whatpulse and it seems to be working nicely. I have a question about mouse distances. How does it know how far your cursor has traveled if you've never entered in the size of your monitor? Is it just making an estimation based on a common size, i.e. 17" or is there something more subtle afoot?
I would guess it measures the distance that the mouse itself moves rather than the pointer...

Edit: Thats a whatpulse stomp to six6six. :p

Nice.
I like the way you can build up a nice big keycount and then dump it on your unsuspecting victim. :p

I made a little whatpulse sig. Its getting boring with only a few of us, and i want all this typing and spamming to count for something... I need people to stomp. :p

16 miles ftw, and 4th place too. Although no doubt sherbert* is stashing and will stomp me when i'm not looking, he hasn't pulsed for ages.

We could do with a sticky for this but its hard to know where to put it, as its not boinc and its not folding. In fact its not really dc at all, so perhaps it could go in a future gd sticky or something...

...Or we could continue to bump it just like was done with the last keycounting thread?
Consider it done. :p
Nothing really disappears off the end of this forum which is nice.

I noticed your name in the dolphin stats. :)

But thanks to the addition of click and mile measurement many of us have moved over to whatpulse. Tis good fun.

Not sure what happened to tkc, apparently its not completely dead...

I'd like a quick summary of this please. Why should I do it? Will it reduce folding cpu time? :D
You should do it because its fun. It won't reduce folding cpu time at all, its not a dc project as such.

All it does it keep a count of key presses, mouse clicks and mouse miles, and you 'pulse' a central server and it keeps a total. Then you join a team and compete, and you get some admirable statistics to show off.
For instance my mouse has done nearly 20 miles since i first started on the 15th of january, and in that time i've typed over 300,000 keys. ;)

Heres an icky for it (miniature sticky of course :p ).

Try the other one. You'll not get any miles counting but it may remember the settings.
I'm interested to see if that solves it because i'll be installing this on a family machine myself with multiple user accounts.

Knocked up a quick page for us:

http://ocukpulse.googlepages.com/home

Nothing fancy, just a sticky really. It will be developed further at some point.

Dolphin seems to have gone down, it will still pulse but the page has gone.

Does anyone fancy a gd thread?
Its getting boring with only 19 of us. Another 100 people to compete with would be very nice.
