What happened to the streets of rage type of game play?

that was fighting force.. one of the best games ever made imho me and my mate used to play it for hours at a time. I never played the sequel because it looked crap

thats it! you legend :D we need more games like this IMO. im fed up of first person shooters. this game over live would be quite good fun, or some sort of similar game i guess. i loved the bit where me and a mate we're moaning at each other coz i always nicked that huge gun off the helicopter in the hangar part heh.

It's amazing how back then we didn't think it was repetitive at all when people complained about assassin's creed like no tomorrow now.

we didnt know any better.

Just as we kept pumping money into dross like shadow warrior when Double dragon was just round the corner.

We thought space harrier was fantastic once.

One thing I just noticed on Playstation Network. Twisted Metal 2 is available!!!! I am sooo getting that. I know what you mean about streets of rage. Used to play that game for hours. A remake that didn't try too hard with the graphics like seems to be the thing nowadays would be good!

 i can't believe TM2 is only on USA PSN, i want it now:(

I remember they were so much fun, walking the streets fighting the bad guys, good old side scrolling action, what i find odd though is that this style of game play is gone or at least not the same, i suppose you could say it's kind of around in games like gta but its really not the same.

Have to second Spierman: Friend or Foe. Really felt like the classic scrolling beat-em ups from my younger days but with very nice graphics.
