I have just purchased a Asus M2NPV-VM Micro ATX (Socket AM2) - OEM and a AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 3800+ 2.00GHz (Socket AM2) - OEM from the clearance section of the site.

What I need help with is desiding what hard drive setup is best for me?

My PC is used to hold a growing 60GB MP3 collection and a 200 GB and growing avi collection, Playing CD's and DVD's and Surfing the internet, no games are played and very little programs are used.

I was thinking of have a 80GB hard drive for windows and programs then a sepperate 500gb hard drive. Should I be looking at an internal or external hard drive for the 500gb? I have no need to take the hard drive away from the computer and would prefer internal.

Also I have always had IDE hard drives and I would like to move onto SATA but my nowledge is slim to none. Can someone please suggest some hard drives that will fit my needs and work with my new motherboard. Cheers Robb

It sounds like speed isn't of the essence here so I don't see the need to have physically separate HDDs for the OS and the media. Simply partitioning a single 500Gb drive will give you plenty of space with some separation of content to allow you to reinstall Windows (if necessary) without affecting the data.

Something like the Hitachi T7K500 that's on this week only would be a good choice.
