What hard drive?

Hi all (again)...

Another problem I need help with lol.

My main Seagate HDD went on me today (50gb partition) and it took me an hour to resurrect it from its grave, it is twice it has happened now.

I am looking to get a new HDD next month.. but which one?

I run Sata 2 on an ASRock M3N78D. The seagate has 8mb cache but want something a little faster.

I am looking at either:

there wont be much difference in speed,dont be fooled by the sata3 claim on hdd's,only ssd's can exploit sata3

im a big samsung fan so id go for those,but upto you,samsungs are quieter drives too

I won't be running at Sata 3 speeds. My motherboard doesn't support it.

As wazza300 said, it wouldn't be running at SATA 3 speeds even if it did.

A mechanical HDD can hardly use half the bandwidth of SATA 2.

I know that, but which is HDD is fastest? Samsung or Seagate?

Samsung are fast,on an empty drive I was getting 150 read/write on 1tb,and on my 2tb I get 130 mb read/write
