I doubt that there is a specific program that dopes this, but, I have a solution for you that does actually work and it works fairly well...
Its a program called SECOND COPY
There are others too that do the same thing but this is the one I use.
I started off using it simply to gather all the game stat files for UnReal Tournament from all the PCs on my LAN as my lan got bigger, so that I could see the stats on each PC and also the complete stats on my server, but also I was backing up all my stat files too.
I then used it to do I think the exact thing you want to do...
Obviously, each game needs it own setting up of course, but this is not a problem, and I have my master and my Server both keeping the latest copies of data files so when I play downstairs, I can finish off a game half way through level 3, and when I go upstairs, I load up the game and I continue at level 3 at the point I left it downstairs ( This is an example but thats whjat you mean yes? )
Anyway, give Second Copy a shot... It works for me perfectly .
