Well guys, the year is almost up. Thought it would be nice to compare 2011, and also write down what our best, worst and mediocre years were.

2011 for me was a mixed bag. After being unemployed for a while, I managed to get a temp job then became permanent with the same firm in May, so good news there. I joined Slimming World, lost 1½ stones with that before the plateau reared its ugly head like it does with most dieters. But probably was my best weight loss attempt so far. In March, I had conjunctivitis in my one and only eye, and being a -27 lens wearer, I was home-bound for nearly a month. Thankfully it didn't stop that temp job from becoming permanent. Tail end of 2011 is just skintage, having to replace or repair stuff plus one Paypal charge-back against me, and sudden price hikes on virtually all of my bills. But meh, the year's been ok overall.

My best years:

1995 - Good GCSE results, joining 6th form. Music was at its best.
2006 - Got onto the property ladder.
2008 - Started visiting themeparks.
1999 - Got online, had eclipse, run up to the Millennium.
2001 - The clubbing honeymoon.

My worst years:

1997 - Nothing happened in 1997. Sheer boredom. Empty.
2007 - Unlucky streak, including power struggles at work, bank fraud, death of a friend.
2009 - Lost Gran, job and computer (fire).
2002 - Graduated then spent half a year on the dole. Not good.

Most exciting year:

1996 - Relationships from start to finish, but highs and lows boils down to a neutral year.

Jesus, I think it was probably 2005 when I was at the last year of school which meant I could do anything I want. Had exams but they were easy, also most of my lessons I learnt stuff that was pretty cool and in one of my science lessons we had to evacuate the lab ( ammonia experiment went wrong, I can still smell it).
Otherwise most other years were mediocre, not much different from the others. This year has actually been quite good for music though and I have achieved more than any other year of my life.

Amazing year tbf, they are normally pretty **** or boring:

Highlights:

Passed my driving test (about time tbh) and given a company car, all fuel costs etc paid for even for personal use
Pay rise
Visited 26 locations in the UK (for work) including England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Island. International travel to Denmark twice, Greece, India, Qatar and Malaysia
Paid off all my overdrafts

Wouldn't mind landing a Mrs next though. /forever alone

All in all its been an educational year, a lot of downs but a few ups that really put things into perspective a bit.

Leaving Belfast and uni there was very rubbish and the 6-9 months of looking for a job trying to find a future for myself were very hard and wasted a fair bit of my time not really knowing what I wanted to do. Had to break up with the girl friend as traveling back and forth across to NI was depressing too.

Ended up getting my self back into uni though in London now, meeting lots of new people and generally having fun (though iv got 32 hours for an essay dead line that I'm only going to make with some hard grinding). Went an old mates wedding too which was excellent fun and a good reminder that things are not always the boring old same old :) (plus met his sister who was really nice)

Either way finally gotten my self into a position where I can do the things I'm good at (education) and the things I want to do (football amongst other things) without having to fly and spend plenty of extra money, plus living with my mum has turned out to be fairly reasonable.

Onwards, upwards and forwards to 2012 to doing the sensible things and getting myself on the right direction :)

Oh and passed my driving test too which helped level out the dreary job hunting summer as learning to drive was nice.

It's been quite a strange year. We bought our first house and I started university which were basically my goals for the past few years accomplished.

However, I'm sick of being skint which is really getting to me. I need to find a way to make money whilst at uni.

Mixed bag.

Good points:
Finally went to Auschwitz.
Finally found a guitar that completely suits my playing & hands so bought two of them.
Still got a job I enjoy doing.
Playing in 2 bands I love and both have a following.

Bad points:
My health was taking a turn for the worse and told on Friday I have advanced arthritis in my back, hips & knees.

Good points again:
Blood pressure controlled
Diabetes controlled
Cholestrol controlled
Finally found out why I'm a virtual cripple (and not to do with arthritis above) and it was because I was having a reaction to my Cholestorol pills so hopefully I'll get my legs back.

2011 has been hard, but what doesn't kill you makes you stronger.

So can't wait for 2012, I also wonder what will be on Nat Geo channel in just over a year? "How the Mayans got it wrong?"

Started ok, became absolutely terrible for a few months, but has markably picked up towards the end of the year.
