What has 2011 been like for you?

Uhh it has been up and down I guess!!!

January - May:

Bad..

I was unemployed for the first half of the year, this really sucked. It's more depressing than you think actually. I was constantly applying for the very few jobs in my area, didn't have much success as there were literally hundreds of people applying for them too.

June:

Good..

After spending ages applying for jobs I managed to get a job at the Council! This was due to start in September.

June - Current

Good..

With the spare time I had I thought I would improve my fitness and physique so I joined a gym for the first time ever and started to lift weights! it is probably the best decision I've ever made, my body is looking better every week, I'm getting a lot stronger, fitter and healthier and my confidence is increasing too. My diet has gotten so much better aswell!

September

Good..

I got laser surgery!!! Probably the best thing that's ever happened to me. After wearing glasses for almost half my life (12 years) and depending on them for everything, it's such an amazing feeling when you're free of them and have perfect 20/20 vision! Love it haha :D

I then started my job at the Council, absolutely love it! Great people, diverse work so it's not boring at all. And hopefully it'll lead me to other opportunities in the future! It's a good feeling when you're on the road to having a worthwhile career.

July - October

Bad..

I met this girl at a bar, exchanged numbers and took her out for a few dates, I thought I had hit jackpot to be honest. After about a month of dating we decided to be together "officially". My life was actually the best it's ever been at that point, I had a good job, a fantastic girlfriend and I was getting a better & stronger body with the weight training (which definitely has it's advantages lol).

Then about 6 weeks after out of nowhere she broke up with me. She said she was never ready for a relationship..even though we didn't know eachother for a long time I was developing feelings for her and well it absolutely sucked when she broke up with me. It made me depressed for a few weeks to be honest..but eventually I got over over it..

Haha didn't realise I typed so much! :D

Varied answers here! Glad to see a lot of people disregarding the 'doomsday' 2012 crap and actually looking forwards to the new year instead.

I find it interesting that Aleksandrs relapsed into WoW (post #29). Since the Burning Crusade, I found myself less and less addicted, to the point where I totally gave up 10 months ago. 2006 was the year of Warcraft addiction.

Excellent; delivered one massively high profile project and cultivated a sponsor who will 'always have a role for me at any company he goes to' and so far he's been true to his word.

Built a great platform, need to build on it next year.

To be honest I'm not really bothered about all this 'new year, new start' stuff.

I will wake up on January 1st and still do the same things as I have always done(hungover).

Pretty boring year for me.

Spent too much money on fixing a car I ended up scrapping.

Cleared my overdraft so had to make cut backs.

Working the same job and seeing the same girl.

This year has been hella difficult. Loads of college work associated with my HNC/D final project and revision for exams, loads of home improvements, job hunting and other such stuff. It's all gone very well though. I won an award for my performance on my course (possibly getting another next year), and have just bagged a much better job. It's been a good, if exhausting year for me.

Pretty good surprisingly. Certainly not enjoyable but got a lot of stuff sorted out. 2012 should be epic if it goes to plan, or catastrophic if it doesn't.

Pretty good!

- first half the year was hilarious house antics with a good friend in Bristol
- got myself a good mark in a qualification
- went travelling around South America for 3 months

Not so shabby! Currently treading water but doing lots exercise and proactive singing / guitaring to keep me busy whilst I wait to start a job :)

First part of year was okish. I didn't have a job which was really getting me down.

Got a job in June which I'm really enjoying. So, lets hope 2012 is even better.

The first nine months i was working (on placement year from university). It was an education, to say the least. Been back at Uni Since then, so all is good.

Best Part: Going to Norway with my girlfriend in July. :)

Worst: Getting Stuck in the Marmite Lorry accident on the M1 a week ago.

My Road trip around the west of the USA with my family was the highlight of the year and getting decent grades in my AS exams isn't something to complain about either. The rest was pretty 'meh' though to be honest. Hoping next year will be a lot better.

Not been too bad, a few foreign trips (Berlin in May and the East Coast USA in September/October) and managed to buy a car I'd fancied for some time (335i M Sport), enjoy the summer in it and move it on before winter.

First half was horrible until about July. Then got a girlfriend and it's been an amazing 5 months.

Still dossing through uni though which is an issue, just can't get motivated for it at all, I have an assignment for tomorrow morning which I haven't even looked at yet and it's been like this throughout. Meh.

2011 has been a good year I would say. The wife got a place at uni to top up her diploma to a degree in Nursing and get paid pretty much the national average wage for doing so, I ripped the bathroom out and put in a while new one with all the tiling and everything on my own, my dad had his operation and came though it fine, my brother is doing very well for himself and has just hit his savings target to buy a house in the new year.

All in all its worked out quite well.
