What has more calories per gram?

I desperately need to put on weight after being rather ill and in hospital for a while recently.

Now, for my tea, I fancy some nice fat Aberdeen Angus burgers, with Vegatables, AND/OR Thai rice/Creamy mash potato with butter and milk.

So my question is, whats going to have more calories/energy?

The Rice, or the Mash !?

Had the rice in the end, as I had some milk earlier in a weight gain shake, and afterwards I had achy joints and felt a bit crap.

Im starting to wonder if dairy doesnt agree with me!
 
Type O's invariably don't do well on dairy, some individual sources will be ok but overall it will be a weak food group, like grains and starches.

I used to get an aching right knee, when I learned that applying the right carbohydrates to my diet would lead to less joint problems I never looked back.
