What have you named your rigs?

Main machne is HAL (was originally MARS)
Wifes laptop is VENUS
Phone is HERMES (messenger to the Gods)
fileserver is COHEN (Pratchet character - its an ancient work test machine and it just refuses to die :p)

Family machines were SATURN and NEPTUNE.

Work laptops have been DREADNOUGHT and WARRIOR.

At work, our sysadmin likes to name the servers after mythical monsters, hence KRAKEN, BEHOLDER, MEDUSA etc. The latest machine has been named MAGGIE, because he's a Thatcherite and it's going to be telling all us devs what to do! :D

We inherited at work an entire network named after things from dune when we bought another company, which disturbed me slightly in a business network. I spent a happy day changing harkonnen and geidi-prime and all the rest to sensible standard naming conventions...

That said, test labs get memorable names, beerlab being the most obvious example of themed naming...

My laptop is the rather boring gm-mbp, however my server is called snaffle for some odd reason, been that ways for a while now...

The names of the machines on my network are quite random really:

Oh and that doesn't include Linux machines, they haven't been added to the LDAP db yet.

Out of interest why does anyone call their PC a "rig"? Maybe I'm just odd but rig always makes me think of trucks, oil or sailing in the first instance and then somewhere down the line I think of a PC.

Oh and my PCs tend to be called after something simple like the CPU type to differentiate between them. I barely bother at all about customising the system like that now, I used to spend hours setting up a variety of sounds for each Windows alert when I first had a computer then realised how much of a waste of time it was for me.

Normally something like KITTENSMASH, TURBOHAMSTER or NINJAGUINEAPIG.

This current install goes by the name of AWESOM-O.
