Hi All, I know absolutely nothing about how and what to use to make my pc run faster with the HD, I am on a tight budget and would like about 500gb min HD space.
Please spec me a single HD or 2 for raid and advise me whats the best thing to do and the best way to have them installed on the system in my sig. Any help will be greatly appreciated, Thank you.
Regards, Wayne..;)

For a 500GB HDD, I would go for the Samsung Spinpoint F3...

(in my opinion) it is really only worth running a RAID0 setup (for your boot drive) if you are regularly working with large (video) files (moving/copying) and/or zipping/unzipping large files, if you do neither of these I would just stick with a single HDD as your boot drive.

Depending on how far your budget will stretch you certainly would realise a worthwhile performance increase by going the SSD route, This for example...so if your budget allows you, this is what I would go for...

I would say go with either a WD caviar black or a seagate 7200.12.

To be honest, any new generation 7200rpm will be fine, as they all perform rather good. Its not worths spending on a Ssd or raid if you are on a budget.

I don't like korean (samsung / lg)hard drives as they are unproven, and not really market leaders in innovation, only on selling in mass on the cheap.

Cheers for the help guys, I will invest in a new drive but am very tempted to get a SSD just for the OS 32gb would do me thinks..Thank you..;)
