What HDD to get?

Hi. I have two old HDD's for storage - 1Tb Samsung and 500Gb Seagate.
Need new HDD for Steam and Uplay folders, as games are well heavy on storage.
Years ago Hitachi was the best in terms of reliability and i'm not sure if it still is. So the question is, what HDD to get for games. What brands and models you would recommend?
I think 2-3Tb would be more than enough to store few games. Thanks

What's cheap and has good warranty? I have had a Seagate ST2000DM001 wrapped in bubble wrap wedged into the bottom of my case for the last 2 years without any issue at all despite writing a lot of data every day from regular backups.

Always went with Western Digital myself and had very little trouble over the years.

Samsung Spinpoint F1 and F3 drives are usually quite fast, reliable and cheap.

HGST/Hitachi have been the most reliable for me by far. I've had one in my PC for around 7 years now.

In that period I've had 3 Seagate drives die on me, their failure rate is pretty high. Theres a reason they are cheap.

I've still got 2x250gb seagate drives since the athlon 64 hit the shelves, still going.

My friends had issues with Hitachi, when they had issues with the deskstar range years ago, they were affectionately known as death stars at the time. I've had samsungs and WD with no issues.
I think it's just bad luck more than anything these days.

Matty, a Seagate 250GB from 2006/2007 is the oldest among my drives, still going strong. Although your pair would beat it if from 2003.

I'll just chip in with another old Seagate -- mine's a 7200.10 from 2008 that spent its first few years of life in an external USB enclosure getting tossed around in a laptop bag, but it's still going strong. Whether they're still as reliable as they used to be I don't know, and all my newer ones are Toshiba but that's mostly because I've gone for "cheap and big" -- everything that's on them can easily be downloaded again if they fail so I'm a bit more cavalier about it.

Think they are 120gb drives thinking about it haha I should probably just bin them as they are IDE drives and pretty useless now, but they still work!

I have a toshiba 1tb and a WDG 1tb, don't know think they too old(couple years at least) and they have been great, had no issues what so ever, they my storage only drives, I have a slower 500gb for my main, I've had WDB and seagate(in fact I have a 750gb seagate of slower sata that's been great) that have been problem free even as single drive system option.

If it was me I'd either get the tosh p300 2tb or any WDB that don't have the slower rpm speed etc.

There was a guy on the members market looking for IDE drives recently,don't know if he found any yet.
