Lost Planet is giving 24fps on my 8800GTX at a lowley 1360x768 res, so I think my old AMD 4400 has finally met its match... sob sob... :(

I'm on a bit of a budget & are thinking of getting:

£240 Intel Core 2 Quad Pro Q6600 "LGA775 Kentsfield" 2.40GHz (1066FSB) - Retail

£70 OcUK 2GB (2x1GB) DDR2 PC2-8500C5 1066MHz Dual Channel Kit

£146 Gigabyte GA_P35_DQ6 (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard
or whats the difference apart from £29
£117 Gigabyte GA_P35_DS4 (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard

£29 Thermaltake BigTyp 120 VX CPU Cooler (Socket 754/939/940/AM2/LGA755)

Thanks guys, though missed your posts b4 going ocuk (as lucky live 2miles away) & I got all except changed mind about heatsink & indeed got the Tuniq Tower 120 ;)

My brother is using a DS4 & I noticed this DQ6 has more copper under the board & more capacitors around the CPU, so I hope its worth the extra. I think maybe the RAM is the week spot, though its rated at 1066 & I've heard if you're lucky it will do 1200.

I just got me hands on some dosh & cant wait untill price drop, though then I'd have get newer tech... sheesh you cant win :p

I'm just backing up my drives now as dont know if I'll need create a new RAID0 array & I'll be doing the build soon :D
Will let you know what I get out of it..

This pic should make you chuckle, ahh I love my 5yr old tower (it first had a cel300@464, tnt1, 128mb RAM).

phew... just finished building the rig, had some probs (will tell later as its now 4am & am going bed)

Initial result I'm testing at is 8x400=3200, tried posting at 3500 & easy.

RAM/CPU seam to be running fast

One BIG problem though is the 8800 is running really slow & CPUZ say its running at 1x not 16x

need sleep now, will attack it tomorrow :o
