2 samsung f1 drives or 2 wd raptors 150. which setup is faster in raid 0?
What is better in RAID 0?

The Raptors since the seek time should be lower. However the Samsungs offer a lot more than speed.

For the money the Samsungs would be a MUCH better deal.

im doing stuff with loads of windows open at once, on 2 monitors, also, bit of gaming
I don't think you'd really benefit with the raptors considering how much they cost per GB. Depends on your storage requirements and budget really, if you don't need that much space and you have cash spare then go for the raptors but if not then get Sammy F1's or the new WD 620 GB AAKS drives.

i'm glad i've got a raptor raid0, because at the time i got them, they totally tore everything else apart
if someone gave me £250 today and said choose a storage solution, i'd take 1 or possible 2 of the WD640gb drives instead of the raptors
strongly considering selling my 2x raptors so i can get some money back from them, they are fast, awesomely fast, and the storage ammount isn't an issue for me, but i can still hear them even when they're both in a watercooled silencer

If someone gave me £250 I'd go for two of the Seagate 320Gb single platters at RAID 0 and two WD 640Gb drives . Having had raptors in the past I agree that they are nice and fast, but they are too noisy.
Be careful with the Seagate 320Gbs, I've bought 2 250Gb single platter drives, the first one went within 3 weeks and the second was DOA. Since its a new platter I would suspect a similar thing may happen, they are good fast drives but I wouldn't recommend it for a data drive.

9 Seagate drives here and never had one fail on me. 1 very old maxtor which ran hot but I had no problems, and got one of the new 250GB maxtors which runs DEAD silent (ear next to HDD with case side off). Got a 2.5" 320GB WD drive for external use and gonna get 2 of the new 640GB's aswell

Anyway, the reason for my posting - I currently have a raptor 74GB which I bought several years ago. Are the ones available now the same, and can I/is it sensible to buy one more and put them in RAID 0?

I have a brand new 74gb Raptor. It has 16mb cache as apposed to the 8 as commented below, so yes, depending on how old you drive is; the new ones are faster.
