What is birmingham like to live in?

I've lived near the uni for 5 years then moved to the city centre for 10 years before moving out in 2022
It's not too bad as long as you're in the right area. There's parts of Brum I'd actively avoid going.
Too many beggars nowadays

It gets worse everytime I fly there to visiting my family.

They "disappeared" during the 2022 Commonwealth Games.

So where in Birmingham do you live?

You're presumption is incorrect - I don't live in Birmingham and spend half my year in either the USA or Latvia. (I'm off to there next week)

For me Birmingham is like many large cities with 1million+ inhabitants. There are some decent areas and there are places you wouldn't venture into. As Tamzzy says there are probably too many beggars nowadays though that is true of many large cities. Spend a little time in New York if you want to experience begging/homelessness on an industrial scale. Plus Birmingham rats have nothing on New York rats!

Afterall, Birmingham is used in Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Pt1 so it's not all bad. ;)

The traffic in Brum is godawful, it makes Leicester look like a utopia.
There's also rubbish inexplicably strewn everywhere, even on the small roundabouts and islands. It's one of the dirtiest cities I've had the misfortune of visiting.
The bullring is cool, and big john's is the best fast food place I've ever been to - but that's about it.

A friend of mine's brother found a GPS tracker on his new Beamer last week in Brum.

Can only assume for burglary reasons, Police weren't interested.

This one I have to disagree with - yes the traffic in BHM is ****, but it's still better than Leicester!

Unfortunately it's not inexplicable once you've been living here for a while - many people literally couldn't give a ****. I've watched a 60+ year old (so definitely old enough to know better!) woman open her car door and tip a carrier bag full of rubbish onto the floor, and then shrug and drive off when I pulled her up on it. Also had to chuck a half full can of coke back through someone's car window after they tossed it out (hopefully it made a nice sticky mess of their interior :D).

There's a corner of our front garden which is a bit of a wind trap - obviously it's significantly worse at the moment with the bin strikes, but even in "normal times", I can half fill a bin bag every couple of weeks with the amount of litter which gets trapped in the hedge :(

Haters gonna hate *shrug*. There was a bin strike in Brighton when I lived there too, perhaps I’m the problem?

One major issue that we’re facing is the opening of yet another artisanal bakery in Harborne. Can’t bloody move for excellent baked goods.
