Samsung N510 = £384.99
Point of View Mobii = £306.99
Hp Mini 311c = £314.99

I know prices are differnt but apart from that are they just rebranded netbooks?

I.e is battery life the same etc, I know mobii is small screen so stay away from that but 311c and n510 and diffence.

Is it easy enough to up ram etc on both? any ideas if win 7 coming out?

finally any have any idea on battery life when gaming? i.e the new torchlight game (should run on this)

No, they aren't just rebranded. The Point of View may be an OEM but the other two are designed and made by their respective companies.

N510
+ N280 cpu (slight upgrade over the n270)
+ N WiFi as standard
+- Matte screen (may be a positive or a negative, depending on which you prefer)
+11.6" 1366x768
- Most expensive
- Only one DIMM slot, so you have to remove what's in there and replace it.
- DDR2

Point of View
+more portable
-n230 cpu
-smaller screen, lower resolution

Mini 311c
+ Cheapest one of the lot, available for £296
+ 11.6" 1366x768
+ 1GB soldered with a free DIMM slot
+ DDR3
+- Glossy screen (may be a positive or a negative, depending on which you prefer)
- Only b/g WiFi as standard
- n270 cpu

I think that's pretty much it, both the HP and Samsung have very good keyboards, 6 cell batteries, card reader, webcam etc.

I just picked up an ace aspire one netbook for £250 on amazon. Has a card reader, webcam, 6 cell battery, N280 Atom 1gb ram.

If you wait a few weeks longer new Ion netbooks will be released.

New Netbook models are coming out every month/week with better specs.
This month it's Windows 7 and Ion GPU's, followed a bit later by better specs and early next year a new Intel Atom processor.

If you wait there will always be something else just around the corner.

anyone know anything about the new spec ones? would like to get with win 7 as feel waste not to so will wait for that, but anyone have link or anthing to the new spec ones or when they are coming out?

Definatly before Christmas. Can't find the article that gives the date but
http://www.electronista.com/articles/09/10/12/hp.mini.311.docs.show.ion.storage.boosts/ should give you more info on the specs.

2nd link suggest end of the year for Ion 2.

@SDK yes, but ions offer far better performance over your standard atom. Even waiting a coulple of weeks woud be considerably worth it. I only just got a netbook last week and the only reason I didnt wait was because I had no desire to use it for anything that it couldn't handle when I got it. I was purely for writing notes in uni tho I did install BBC iplayer desktop which it struggles with.

Buy now if you need one and it does what you need. No point waiting for each incremental upgrade ;) You'll be waiting till they've released a 4ghz 8 core, with 16gb ram, and 2tb hard disk netbook and Windows 12 in 5 years time if you keep waiting for the next best thing and you'll have never had a netbook in all that time :)

For me 270 and nvidia ion le (which can be hacked to Ion full) is good enough and available now at a decent price so I ordered the 311c :)
