What is folding?

You mean second result surely?

Unless your one of those "The Adverts count as well" people :p

Anywho, just because it says that SETI is the largest on a SETI based site doesn't mean it is.

I think it's pretty close, I'd honestly put F@H ahead... of course I could be completely wrong :o

nah, I just didn't really look closely, lol.

In case you were looking for a more detailed answer:

Proteins are probably the most functionally important molecules in your body. Basically speaking, everything you can do from flexing your muscles to breaking down food into useful energy requires proteins. Proteins are big, complicated molecules, composed of chains of amino acids. Their 3 dimensional shape is very important to how they function; it's also very complicated to work out, and depends on a number of different kinds of bonds formed between amino acids at various points in the protein. Folding@Home uses your computers spare processor cycles to work out the three dimensional shapes of these proteins (of which there are tens, maybe hundreds, of thousand different types in your body) so that how they work can be better understood, and how they will interact with other chemicals (in particular, medicinal drugs) can be better predicted.

Ok i have a 8800GFX in SLI and a QX6850 @ 3.4Ghz, so i think it would be a good pc to contribute to this, does the one program utilise all this or will i have to have 2 programs running at the same time, one for the CPU one for the GPU's?
