I am beginning to lose my patience, with the state of the country.

Where does GD think we will be in say 5 years?

How long will it take for the country to settle down again so that we know where we are?

Since the financial crisis we have just had year after year of uncertainty and lack of direction, our leaders used to behave like grown ups and now they seem like a bunch of kids.

Please, please GD give me some reassurance, will everything be alright?

You HAD to move?
So you stopped deciding to contribute as much as you could, and you're worried about the state of the economy at home.

Maybe you could repatriate, and make a difference.
Bring all your m8s.

Well I flogged my supermarket chain and needed somewhere to park the boat

In stange days, very high level, science has become crazy over the last 100 years to the extent we can control individual electrons, discover higgs bosons and look into the galaxy light years away, how crazy is that. Remember when people only had spears and arrows and had to fight every day just to eat?

Huge waves of collectivism brew a bad potion imo. No personability or individual accountability anymore, all herd mentality, oneness and confusion.

In perilous days no doubt.

OMG we must do something

No I am genuinely worried about the country and where we are going, I forgot I live in Monaco though.

I'm actually pretty concerned about what the next decade holds for us in the UK. in economic and societal terms I consider things to be very precariously positioned. What's also adding to these challenges is the increasing pace of technological change which is now driving disruption and uncertainty.

From an economic point of view we are still a relatively rich and prosperous country, However the underpinnings of this prosperity are weak in my opinion and the gap between rich elite and working class people is growing. Those rich elite are also not investing their wealth in activity that will generate employment and wealth for the masses. Property is out of control still in the UK. We had a the mildest of corrections but are back to pre 2008/9 levels. Much funded by cheap debt and middle classes piling into the B2L market.
Levels of unsecured consumer debt are going to go beyond where they were in 2008 meaning that a small move in cost of funds (interest rates) or unemployment will potentially have a catastrophic impact for many families. The culture of "I want it and I want it now" is driving this and our productivity and will to work hard for material gains is diminishing.

From a societal point of view I am beginning to despair at the influence of social media for negative purposes. I cannot see too many tangible benefits to SM. If it were being used to propagate democracy for persecuted citizens in despotic regimes then I can see the value but beyond that it seems to give impunity to some pretty bad behaviour and platform for unsubstantiated opinion. Its only my Mrs that is stopping me from binning the FB account.

Brexit is going to be a very difficult and painful process but it won't be the rich elites that feel the pinch most. It also wont be them showing any benevolence to the poor sods who are going to be bankrupted if it all crashes down.

I think its fair to say that yes we are doomed!
