What is going on with these rear seats?

They are more a token gesture rather than actual seats. A Porsche is not likely to take more than one passenger anywhere (except for the Cayenne) unless they have no legs below the knee or fit in a child seat.
Think they are referred to as 2+2 rather than a true 4 seater. Its a sports car not a people carrier ;)

Thats what I thought, but I've been in other 2+2s Skyline/Supra - and they still have proper attempts at rear seats even thought they are tiny. This just looks like the have carpeted over the inside of the bodywork! I suppose it could be weight saving, but I'd be embarrassed about it looking like that . .

The ones in a DB9 are just as bad, you can barely fit a 7 year old in the back.

The ones in a 456MGT are OK, 612 Scaglietti ones are better.
