What is it with this preordaned structure to life?

Its just us humans standardising on a way of doing things, it wont be the best for every situation (no standard ever is) but it's at least a way of giving direction.

Its only been standardised because it what works for society, and only if it stops working for society will we change it.

I do suspect there might be a change to our fundamental thinking in the pipeline, look at the suicide rates for under 25's (or millenials if you want to be a condescending ***** about it), a generation that's had it the best of any generation before them in terms of technology, education, leisure activities etc is suddenly finding modern life all too much. There's something wrong with the system and it'll need to change.

I suspect it's being caused by the advent of media being blasted into us from every direction all at once from the constant clickbait headlines through to facebook and the expectation you need to be a happy interesting fun individual who's always available to respond all of the time.
Grow a pair, stop worrying about social media

Lots of people don't 'conform' to society. Buy a van, kit it out, live off grid, work to live. Hundreds, possibly thousands are doing that very thing right now. Some because they have to, some because they want to.
Unfortunately you still have to get involved with society sometimes, such as needing a doctor for example.

I find it frustrating how so many people just accept that it is the way things are - never question or challenge it - act as if the established way things are done is a bigger more powerful thing in its own right that we have no control over and almost an attitude that we shouldn't and can't question it.

You can do whatever you want, but you will much more enjoy being part of society and working a cushy office job so you don;t have to worry about food, clothing and housing. You can go live off the land if you want but will find it incredibly tiring, stressful and if you really lived outwith society a good chance you will die young form an eaisly curable injury or disease. The common flu or dioareah can become life threatening if you are living a subsistence lifestyle without access to medical care.

You can do a lot to change things f you don't like the 9-5 rat race scenario. Go work for a charity where you are paid minimally but know your work is making a difference. I have several friends who quite their high paying high stress job to live in a tent in Africa or Asia doing charity work, earning just enough to buy street food or a bus ticket to the next villiage. You could save up money and give it all to Charity, or go travel the world for a couple of years, or start your own company.

If you don;t have a family then really the world is your playground.

They should teach you how to be enthusiastic about things you really couldn't care less about within education. The office management type are often quite skilled at this. It's as if their brain partially delinks itself from their facial expressions so they can look and sound like they care about some mundane work/project. Some of the masks they wear are paper thin see through though :D

I feel for you OP, I think we have all been there. It is a gift and the curse of being human / conscious. Life has moments of joy and awe and brilliance surrounded by at worst real struggle at at best dullness.

But this is the deal, it doesn't come with an instruction manual and it's up to you to decide if you want to try and make it better.

However being healthy in a free democratic society offers you a lot more to live for than you might find elsewhere. Yes you are surrounded by the system and it's trappings far more than you would be in a rural Nigerian village. but it's up to you to decide what does and doesn't matter. You have many more choices than the bulk of population in the world.

I suggest you reconnect with things that brought enjoyment to the people of the past. Ditch your phone, read books, learn a craft, learn to cook, get out into the countryside, climb a mountain. Social media and the modern world is frivolous, flitting and paper thin. Get away from things that offer instant gratifications and find interests that are deep and will last a lifetime.

if you do interesting things you will meet interesting people and have an interesting life.
