I sent my GTX 280 back to BFG for RMA they send me a GTX285 OCFU back. Its was in a plan box with bubble wrap no documentation. they included a letter saying "it is a OCFU even though the sticker on the fan says OC" I dont know how I can check this?

Also I checked DX to see what info it was showing.

It is saying Aprox total memory is 1776 MB.... Is this onboard card ram? or has it included somthing else? I am assuming its just 1024 + including something else.

So can I check with software to find out what the actual ram is and if it really is OCFU?

IM On win 7 64bit

Download GPU-Z. You may be able to check the serial number on the BFG website to get more info on the card.

thanks couldnt rememer the name of this utility :)

looking at it its just 1024mb strange how dx 11 is stating 1776mb

Well thanks for hijacking the thred with pointless crap about me complaining? when did I complain? dont jump on me like some of you do when hou think they in the wrong. I will get the thred closed. I already contacted them and they have agreed to replace it in a non complaining fasion. If some of you want to carry on about cars and complaining start a new thred. remember this is called " what is it..." Thank to the guys that did offer to help me by giving me advice.

On the basis that you were told you'd be getting a different card than you were sent, I would contact them to clear it up.

Maybe under the pretence of "I'd just like to clarify what card you've got me down as having in case I have issues with this".

Either way though, a GTX285 is faster than a 280, I wouldn't complain about it.

An OCFU is most probably not worth the hassle of sending it back and waiting for a replacement.

The thing is they think they sent me a gtx 285 OCFU so if they are are putting the wrong labels on things better to get it sorted now so in the future other BFG RMAs might not have the same mistake.
