Hi again guys

Im not getting this whole SSD thing properly so im sorry for the noob questions. Im trying to make up my mind what SSD to buy.

What is the difference between Marvel and SandForce ?

Would i be able to install a SandForce SSD into my PC without buying any extras ?

I have a 6gb sata connector on my motherboard and also see option in my bios for Marvel so does it mean i will be best with the 6gb Marvel controlled SSD's ?

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Would Sandforce work on my motherboard or would i have to buy some sort of controller card ?

Thanks for the info so far, i will get this in the end lol :)

It will work, assuming you are going to install windows 7 on it, just install it and let windows take care of the rest

Just had a look at your MB spec, you want to connect the SSD to the Intel controller, grey ports for SATA 6gb & the blue ones for 3gb.

Oh, and change the controller to AHCI in the bios before installing Windows 7.

I think thats all.

I big as possible, 128 gig would be good for Windows, a few apps (photo shop, office ect) and a few games and keep all your other stuff on your 2TB drive.

OCZ Vertex 2 seem to be good value at the moment, I have the 60gb one but I woulden't recommend it as is too small for anything other than windows and a couple of apps,

Have a look at the following.

OCZ 120gb
