What is needed for SLI

ah okays, im planning on SLI my new build in the future but if i needed 2 x16 slots i would have to give my motherboard back. If it can change the x16 to x8 when in sli that will be fine. Thanks!

as far as I m aware, unless its some hybird (like ATIs hybird crossfire)

you will need a mobo with 2 PCIe lanes rather its 8x/8x or 16x16x SLI bridge and two cards that ARE identical IE 9800GTX++ with a GTS250 will work

ok AMG thanks for the info never knew you could do that! :) but im keeping it simple, if the new gt300s are pricey ill use 1, if theres a cheap gt300 model ill sli them so i just needed to know if they had to be 2 x16 or not. Im just planning on keeping 2 same cards :)

Used to be that you needed in addition to very deep pockets, a lot of patience as it could be a PITA to get working right.

Nowadays you just need deep pockets.

SLI is no hassle

plug in both cards, attatch the bridge
enable sli - and off you go

if you have a slower bottom lane then it will largley depend on if the lanes are pcie1 or pcie2

list your spec and we will tell you if its worth it or not
