What is the best air cooler for a gfx card?

Interesting news. I was going to buy the Zalman and luckily i read the threat about the new Zalman coolers coming out. Anyone that was has some news or pics of them?

I've fitted three zalmans to date and I'm waiting for the VF900 to appear to go on me X1900XT. I've also fitted a coupla arctic coolers in the past and I certainly wouldn't compare the two . From a build quality point of view, the zalman wins hands down and the performance is VERY good (took 13c off me idle and load temps on me old ZX1800XL) and best of its as near to silent as is possible when running on 12v fan speed. I wouldn't contemplate anything else meself imho.

guys, slap an 7000CU or AlCu on the gfx then you are set :D
Be sure to support the gfx card pcb with some iron girders first :D . It would be good if you could use something that big, could probably run it passive.

Do the Zalman gpu coolers have fan speed monitoring?

You're out of luck really. AFAIK there isn't an Artic Cooler for the X1800 series at the moment and the new Artic Coolers don't exhaust the air out of the back

I just fitted arctic cooler rev 3 to my 6800GT & it certainly does exhaust out the back of the case, running 8 degrees cooler now

I think he means the new design of arctic cooler that dont exhaust out the back, i hope they dont stop making the silencer in favor of the new design :( . My stock cooler was a stupid design that sacrificed cooling performance for looks and i was getting 68oc idle and it was reaching 90oc+ under load and that was with a vantec dual 70mm pci fan under it and an 80mm side panel fan. When i fitted the Arctic silencer and turned on my PC i thought it was reading wrong when it was at 32oc idle slowly rising to around 37oc and stayed there, i went on HL for a few hours and it never went above 50oc, and it is also very quiet to boot :) .

But we're talking about a cooler for x1800xt

As you had already pointed out that an arctic cooler is not available for the X1800 to what are you refering to when you state that the new A/coolers do not exhaust from the back when indeed the rev3 does ?
