What is the best way to make a free website for someone who has next to no HTML skill

Ah. Maybe it isn't for you then. You need to manually install it on your webhost (which must support the PHP programming language, and probably some kind of database) - or you could always host it on your own computer maybe, it's pretty easy to set-up

Failing that.. there's always flickr or Google Pages

google pages has expired for new sign ups, and flickr isnt really what I'm looking for. but thanks.

I'm willing to do the gallery thing if you could explain what to do step by step, but you probly dont have time

Doesn't require any programming, but you can get Joomla up and running by :

downloading it
ftping it to your root of your web directory
extracting it (may have to do this first if you don't have rights)
going to your site and setting it up

You will require : ftp access, php, mysql... and you need the username and password and address that the CMS can use to access the database.

As I said, just follow the instructions online and you are good to go!

ok, I don't know how to ftp something to a web directory or what that means.

And I don't know what PHP or MYSQL is. nor CMS.

Do you have access to CPanel with your host? (If not, probably a good idea to change hosts). Then you could just use 'Fantastico De Luxe' and that has a lot of gallery, blogs and CMS software you can easily install with a few mouse clicks.

What is a CPanel? I don't think I do.

Can you spec me a freehost that has a CPanel?

So I've signed up, now what?

In Cpanel there should be a section called 'Fantastico De Luxe' or something similar. Go into there, and there's a list of programs you can install. It will ask for a username and password, then set up all the databases for you. Then give you a link to sign in.

Could you not just use something like blogger instead, simple sign up and that's all. Alternatively try a host that supports wordpress and use the template/plugin system to modify the look/usage.

I can't make a blogger or a flickr because I already have a google acount with my email address but I've forgot the password/email/username

My sentiments too... he seems to be totally uninterested and wants other people to do everything for him.

The bottom line is, you have no idea, and you have no idea that you have no idea. So go hire a consultant :)
