AMD 3700+ (single core) or Intel Core 2 Duo 1.50 GHz ?

I want to upgrade my PC that has the AMD but I think the Intel in the laptop I am thinking about will prob be not that much faster (if at all).

THanks.

Well in what? Ones dual core and the others a single core so its impossible to compare without a specific program.

Also, whats the cache and fsb of the core 2 duo in question.

Intel Core 2 Duo Processor T5250 (1.50 GHz, 667 MHz FSB, 2 MB Cache)

Will be used for mainly I.E. and Windows Media Player, Office 2007 etc. Not really high end games.

Im sure somebody on here can give you benchmarks for a similar cpu so you can compare. I have a t2300 which is a core duo running at 1.66ghz, so not sure if itll be of any help. It does have the same fsb/cache though.

In normal office/desktop situations wher multitasking is important the t5250 will be better.

I might just save my pennys for a bit more then and get the laptop with the Intel Core™2 Duo processor T7500 2.20 GHz , Level 2 cache 4 MB.

I guess that will be better then the AMD 3700+ so I might notice a difference.

Ram size and Hard drive speed would probably have more of an impact on performance for you.

There wouldn't be much in it between the cpus in these apps.

None of which are intensive when used alone, if you want to used office whilst browsing the net and watching a dvd on WMP11 then dual core will be better but as mentioned the amount of available ram will have an impact as will the OS being used.
