What is the minimum needed to run BF3 at 1200p all bells and whistles smooth?

dont see why not . I have got a gigabite 7950 which is overclocked same as this (actually im at 1050) , stock volts just move the sliders in ccc . and alough i have not got battlefeild 3 this graph shows how an overcloked gigabite windforce does .

68 Avg is not too bad. What are the minimums though?

A single 680 will do 45/80/180 Min/Avg/Max

Infact that graph looks whack. High not Ultra?

1200p, MSAA 4x, AF 16x, Ultra Everything is what I benched BF3 for 45/80/180 Min/Avg/Max. Would muller that at high instead of Ultra.

I'v been looking at benchmarks for the 680, and what I gathered is that a 680 would be way over powered for 1200p.

Am I right?

Overpowered?

No.

Min/Avg/Max of around 40/80/180 is not overpowered at all.

It's just about right for 1920x1200/Ultra All/All bells and whistles. Anything less is starting to get to the point of being below 60fps a bit too frequently.

+1

I agree, I don't think it would be overpowered for 1200p.

It exists in that you can have 1200 progressive vertical lines of resolution but it's an absolutely stupid term.

So is 1080p as far as I am concerned when talking about anything other than digital media.

Digital in that sense.

But not media. Media as in Film, TV. Video where the 1080p 'tag' makes sense' as they conform to a HD resolution 'standard'. You can run a game at whatever resolution you want. So saying 1080p implies 1080 lines of vertical resolution and one would ASSUME 1920 horizontal lines of resolution based on the TV/Film 'standard' but infact you could be running anything you set it to.

1080p makes sense for the media which the 'standard' was designed but not for something completely different.
