What is the minimum needed to run BF3 at 1200p all bells and whistles smooth?

Digital in that sense.

But not media. Media as in Film, TV. Video where the 1080p 'tag' makes sense' as they conform to a HD resolution 'standard'. You can run a game at whatever resolution you want. So saying 1080p implies 1080 lines of vertical resolution and one would ASSUME 1920 horizontal lines of resolution based on the TV/Film 'standard' but infact you could be running anything you set it to.

1080p makes sense for the media which the 'standard' was designed but not for something completely different.

Exactly. If I say I am playing BF3 on PC at 1080p everyone would assume that its 1920x1080, because that's what 1080p is. The fact your playing an interactive game doesn't matter, that stuff on your screen is video. Anyone playing at 1337x1080 is NOT going to say they are playing at 1080p, because they aren't.

thing is all those benchmarks you see about cpus not mattering in BF3 are from the single player game. There's a lot more going on in multiplayer, bigger maps etc and i5 is 2 generations newer than your cpu so clock for clock it's gonna be a good 25% quicker. if you can overclock to 4.8 which many people have then 4.8 x 1.25 = 6.00...which is over 50% quicker than your cpu...

Still think it won't make any difference?
