Hi
Daughter had an asda wooden kitchen for christmas
Now the door has fallen of and it looks like a piece of metal has broken on what i would call an 'hinge' etc
Been to numerous diy stores and not one of them stock it nor know what the part is called
Contacted asda and they say the whole kitchen needs dismantling and sending back, they wont send a replacement part so i need to locate some of these: (this pic is of how it should look, the one thats broken the upright bit of metal is broken)

Can anyone help?

I think they're generally referred to as "pivot" hinges and to be honest I've never seen them used on a wooden/chipboard/mdf panel before. They are normally used to secure glass panels.

Try Googlin, pivot hinges, I doubt you'll get an exact match, but you may get something that does the job. That looks a pretty cheap and nasty hinge.

Try, www.ironmongerydirect.co.uk they have a good selection

If the metal pin broke then i wouldn't imagine a tiny wooden dowel would hold up too well. Its also a thin piece of material to be putting a dowel into.

What is the diameter of the metal pin roughly?

Just to add a bit of context I think the OP is taking about a kids play kitchen like this:
http://direct.asda.com/George-Home-Deluxe-Wooden-Kitchen/000799375,default,pd.html

I would drill a hold through the original bracket where the pin used to be and then drill into the door directly behind it, refit the bracket then push a metal rod in through the hole and into the door. The old bracket will then take most of the force/abuse of the door opening and the door itself will hold the rod straight.

If I have got the wrong end of the stick and this is actually a full size kitchen I would take the opportunity to dismantle it and send back and buy elsewhere as no full size kitchen should have such an appallingly designed hinge.

I'd go with the dowel idea, but failing that I may have something very similar from an Ikea glass display cabinet that is a spare part.

I'll check later when I get home if I remember!

Edit - I've got one of these which might work, but it was meant for a piece of thin glass. What is the thickness of the wooden door it clips onto?

Thanks all
They said because they dont carry spare parts need to send it all back

Will look at those recommendations

I had a similar issue with another children's toy and I actually emailed the company direct and they sent me out a spare along with a few additional replacement parts.

I remember doing the same a few years ago due to a poorly manufactured bolt on my daughters cot - contacted M&P and they gave me an entire replacement bolt kit for free.

Saying that if it is an Asda brand then my expectations wouldn't be particularly high as to the quality.

Take the part pff go into bnq n ask if they stock them! Bloody hell man lol

To which the answer will at best be "no" or more likely they will give you the run around for 10 minutes. You are highly unlikely to find a bespoke part like the above in b and q and I've certainly never seen one there.

My Microwave and cooker door did exactly the same thing. 20 month old daughter was a bit too heavy handed :D
My misses went in to where we bought it from and they said loads of people have complained about it and they were no longer stocking them.
It's a tricky one to repair because of the crappy wood they used for the doors.
We also bought the dolls house and that has been fine.
