I'll go into little more detail later, but don't say 'the bin' lol.

2nd computer with sli 939 board that needs to have a card for any visual with single core cpu and standard psu to be brief.

If your CPU doesn't have integrated graphics, then it's good for actually using your computer ! Be careful with the motherboard - some of the older ones had AGP slots instead of PCI-E.

Ha thanks for replies.

No it has 2x16 slots and having checked, Nvidia cards only.

Despite it being an old gaming board I wouldn't plan on using it for games certainly not a single core lol, I got a car I can put it in and thinking about a secondary machine for General use as my sig is my old decent for now gaming rig, so what the cheapest decent new card to actually use it.

Asus A8N Sli-Deluxe is the board.

AMD Socket 939 and from what I read Sli is Nvidia and crossfire is AMD, I've got an msi crossfire version in a computer I've just sold and Sli board must be for Nvidia as I took a radeon x1800xl thats with the msi and tried it with the Asus but my 8400 only gave me visual? And both cards work.

It needs to be decent to warrant the money, but the Asus has no vga/dvi hdmi Socket so it's based on needing a card

If the board is sli capable but not crossfire, that doesn't mean that AMD cards in general aren't supported, you just won't be able to run more than one together in crossfire mode.

A bios update for the board might be needed to use the x1800xl with it.

Thanks again for replied.

Yeah after reading more about it you are right, think what I read first either wasn't explained properly or just false. The x1800xl is back on the crossfire board as that computer is sold, but I will buy a card tomorrow (later) used or new and probably Nvidia, save all this bios updating as I had a first bad experience the other month with my current computer, luckily my computer wasn't messed up for long and reinstalled os.

Keep seeing these Nvidia quadro Nv? 64mb windows 7/8 compatible cards on e##y for under a tenner, likely not a localish pick up.but sound like decent cards.

Oh and the cpu I've put on the board is an Amd 64 3500+ single core, it came in box of computer bits I recently brought along with the motherboard so thought I'd try my luck fitting it after 3 failed attempts of previous cpu fittings lol.

For general use it will do, not my main focus so don't care like. I don't even need dx10 really, just want decent for system with standard 300w supply.
