When a tennis player gets a net court but wins the point and then waves a hand of apology,

I mean like, you didn't give the point back did you?

Anyway really gets my goat two faced so and so.

Here's a pic of me to cheer you up <3

They're just acknowledging the fact that luck played a part in the point. They can't "give the point back".
Why is it two faced

Could be worse, what about people who apologise because they disagree with something
Sorry, this is simply wrong
Don't agree, sorry, and I don't get sickness in VR.
sorry I dont buy the whole carbon emmissions thing, nothing wrong with co2

Or people who say sorry for never having witnessed a Nazi?
sorry I have never ever witnessed a neo nazi or any other sort of Nazi

because they still will claim a glorious victory against all the odds even though they fluked it.
You might get 1 or 2 "flukes" out of hundreds over the course of a multi set match, and the other guy has just as much chance of getting a fluke.

I'm not really sure what your point is.

I now want to close this thread as it's become too serious but I can't work out how
RTM it and hope that a Don takes pity on you and closes it? You started a thread and people didn't agree with you, I'm sure you'll make a full recovery. :p

It's the same in squash. If you hit the exact corners of the court the ball either dies or bounces in an unpredictable direction and you will probably win the point.

It's an acknowledgement that a 1 in a 100 fluke event won you the point rather than skill. It's good sportsmanship.
