What is the "System Temp" on a DS3P

I'm still trying to work out why I can't get any overclock at all on my system and I notice that the "System" temp in EasyTune (or Temp 1 in Speedfan) is over 60C at idle and gets up to 65C under load testing. Does anyone know what that temp actually is?

T.A.T. reports the cpu core temperatures. I want to know what the temperature listed as System actually is, i.e is it the northbridge (seems unlikely as the northbridge is hotter than 60C) or is it some sensor elsewhere on the board, if so, where?

60C seems hot for a temp just on the board between the pci slots or similar.

i thought it was the NB too, though mine is only 30 C, seems very low for NB as with the stock cooler its a bit toasty.

Well, I was running without a system fan. Sticking one in drops that temp to 40C. There's no way it's the NB, as the NB heatsink is too hot to touch for more than a second. It must be a temp sensor sitting elsewhere on the board, but maybe near something hot.

speedfan is no good for these boards
i always go by whatever gives me the highest temp
which happens to be tat.Coretemp is supposed to be more
accurate though as yet i have not found any app that will
give me nb temp apparently the ds3 is fine running as hot as 100 c even though
so i wouldnt get worried. But i know how you feel the nb temp is always there on
my mind nagging away.Hopefully the next intel socket we won't have these worries and heat.
