Alright, got an acer laptop today - the ac adaptor is missing the bit that plugs into the wall. So i've got this basically:

Just wondering what the lead is called that goes from the wall socket into the box.

Thanks =)

Cant remember name for them, but its like the normal PC kettle lead, but a heart shape.

1min I get name from my m8's shop.

Ok we commonly call the other type lead for most PC's a kettle lead, but yours is a Cloverleaf Mains lead (look at shape).

Thanks guys, yeah i know about the kettle and figure 8 cables - but wasn't too sure on this.

Thanks a lot!

I know whats its called, thats the common name, my m8 owns a store, ask him for a " Figure of 8 Lead " or " Kettle Lead " or " Cloverleaf Lead " he knows what it is.

Are you trying to be smart as your a tad late.

You want to help the OP fine, but no need to quote (cant even do that) me and tell me something I know already m8.

A kettle lead has a ridge in the connector, and plastic is different type (higher melting point) Different to PC IEC cable.

We know that, as 1 is 13amp other should be 5amp.

Its still commonly known as a kettle lead.

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CA-002-GE&groupid=701&catid=48&subcat=

" Standard 'Kettle' style 3-pin mains lead with standard UK mains plug on the other end. This is the type of lead that fits the majority of PC base units, monitors, printers and PSU units. Supplied with quick-release 5 Amp fuse. BSI approved, confirms with IEC320 spec. "

5amp wont boil a kettle :p

Anyhow none of this is on topic, the OP needs whats commonly known as a Cloverleaf Mains Lead (stated already).
