ATAPI - Points to something to do with your disk system

\Device\Ide\IdePort3 - Points to either a HDD or DVD drive connected to that port on the motherboard.


Firstly I would update all the motherboards drivers.

Then I would run a full HDD scan using the manufactures diagnostic utility to see if the HDD is on its way out.

If it passes the diagnostics, then it would point to a faulty CD/DVD drive. Remove it and see if the problem persists.

well it turned out to be hd, it has now failed grr with all my games on it lol

180gb of steam games to re-download now

At least you don't have to find all the boxes and discover you've lost the booklets with the key codes on!

Have you tried reading the HDD on another machine, or on your own machine using Linux Live?

There could still be a chance a lot of the data is still readable.

In any case it is probably a great time to find out which Steam games you don't play very often!
