What is this stuff?

Was cleaning out my case and noticed this on the back of my crossfire card

This capicator leakage or something?

looks like water damage to me mate
do you watercool your system? if so check for leaks

Don;t have any watercooling instaled, removed it yonks ago and ive only had this card about a week. whatever it is it seems to be rubbing off though.

yes it will rub off, like a dust. i dont really know of anything else it could be mate

Looka like a burst battery or capacitor, looks like it may have dripped onto the card to check the motherboard above where the card goes.

Well cleaned most of it off and plonked em back in, working fine, stange that though. Might have to get a cocktailstick or something to get the little bits off that are at the sides of the smaller components.


Also plonked in some additional cooling for the twins.

Fans were spinning in this pic too.

Looking at your pic, could it have been oil coming from the heatsink? I am sure I read a thread here about it spitting out oil from the heat pipes

Well whatever it was it seemed to have hardened and was very brittle, came of easily enough and no damage done it appears.
