Honestly, over the past few days, I've had several drivers drift to the right into my lane on dual carriageways or motorways just as I'm starting to approach and go past them. They just aren't looking in their mirrors, and most of them just seem to be half asleep and let their wheels drift across the lane line into mine before I have to honk them to tell them to gtfo back into theirs. Happened again today on the M11. I was in the slow lane and this car drifted into mine as I was starting to approach him (either accidentally or he wanted to get into my lane, not sure) before he realised and pulled back into his lane. As I went past and looked over to him he did actually put his hand up apologetically. But others I've honked and looked over to are just completely oblivious. Also, I'm amazed just how many drivers I decide to give way to on streets that simply drive past with no acnowledgement of thanks. So ignorant. Don't get me started on tailgating either, particularly white van man. All I can say is, they sure like to maintain their reputation.

You were in the "slow" lane and you were going past someone? I hope you were in a traffic jam
I had just recently come on to the M11 from the slip road. A little way on, the car in the middle lane started coming across into mine without being aware he was starting to cut across me and could have hit me if he hadn't pulled back in. He wasn't aware I was there.
Yeah, a woman on the phone without a handsfree was one of the recent people that did that to me.
I'm not the best driver tbh but I'm gaining experience every day (been driving since Sept). The other day, I was driving in the left lane and put my indicator on to turn left at a round about, there was a car right beside me in the right lane and all of a sudden, the car in the right lane edged into my lane and nearly went into the side of me - thank god the road ahead became clear so I just floored it as I could see an 'accident' happening. I was shocked and couldn't understand why he did this as he was turning right. I also don't understand how he didn't see me when the car has mirrors and the driver has eyes.

You are aware you shouldnt be going through on the inside? Or even getting close to doing so?
I dunno what it's like in the rest of the country (NI here), but I find the "slow lane" the most free flowing lane. Sometimes I think myself and a handful of other drivers have been given some unique ability to see this lane that everyone else is unaware of.
"Slow lane" = new passing lane.

The OP was perfectly within his rights to accelerate up to the NSL for that road even if it meant passing people on the left.
You can only do that in congested conditions. Which I dont think we are talking about here?
I'm sorry can you actually post the guidlines re PASSING ON THE LEFT and not OVERTAKING ON THE LEFT.

No idea what you're on about tbh. It's very simple, I'm on the left doing well under the speed limit, and he's in the middle lane coming over on a collision course with me. I honk him, he gets back into his lane. He apologises.
If there's someone in the middle lane going slower than me, it makes sense to go around them rather than through on the inside. It's called defensive driving and helps prevent instances like this. Doesn't matter what the law or the highway code say.

I quite often get the opposite on my way to work. Two lanes onto and off a roundabout. Most people use the left lane to go straight on, but you can also use the right lane. When there is traffic I use the right lane, did the other day and half way round the roundabout a van didn't bother to pay attention to the road at all and tried to cut the roundabout whilst I was along side him. He didn't seem to appreciate being honked despite nearly removing my front wing and me having to come to a complete stop.
But yeah, people are idiots, it really is that simple.
An old maxim comes to mind.

There are plenty of rubbish drivers on the road and since they banned using a phone, many seem to think they are ninja texters. They are not.
Most people are fine, generally it is just the odd old duffer driving at half the speed limit or mr important overtaking each car like a game of frogger.
Pet peeves:
Tailgaiting
Overtakes 1mph faster than the other driver
Lane disipline on smaller roundabouts.

If he is doing 70 its perfectly fine as he isn't undertaking, the other car is drifting past him as it is going unusually slow. This happens a lot on motorways as traffic in the outer lanes breaks for congestion and the inner ones don't have too. Also happens when some tit is doing 60 in the middle lane, perfectly acceptable in the eyes of the law to pass them on either side.
