I think the battery is one of the things that are often overlooked when people moan about how expensive apple are, i had an acer laptop and after 14 months the battery lasted 12 mins lol.

Battery is only a year old. Had to replace my old one as it started holding about 20mins charge after 200ish cycles.

Sadly no Applecare. :(
Not that fussed any more, its mainly used as a desk workstation at the moment.
When I replace is, Applecare will be included next time though.
I want a Unibody!!!

1.33GHz 12" Powerbook (per Coconut Battery):
Age: 68 months
Loadcycles: 524
Current capacity: 3415mAh
Original capacity: 4400mAh

That's surprisingly good for the age, as far as I'm concerned. And stacks up against what I actually experience.

Off the top of my head you are eligible for a battery replacement.

I can't recall the exact details at present, but something like "if your battery loses more than 80% capacity before 300 cycles" it is classed as replaceable under Applecare. iirc your laptop (assuming it is early 2008MBP like mine) started at a 5500-5600mAh capacity so you are below 80% of that now (4205) and below 300 cycles.

I had mine replaced just before it was 1 yr old under the same premise.

Maybe someone can find out the capacities of the various models batteries and do an 80% calculation to see who/if people are eligible for replacements?

Battery Lifespan
For Apple notebooks with removable batteries — such as previous generation MacBook and MacBook Pro computers — a properly maintained battery is designed to retain up to 80% of its original capacity at 300 full charge and discharge cycles. You may choose to replace your battery when it no longer holds sufficient charge to meet your needs.

The built-in battery of the MacBook Air is designed to retain up to 80% of its original capacity at up to 750 full charge and discharge cycles.

The built-in battery in the new 13-, 15-, and 17-inch MacBook Pro is designed to retain up to 80% of its original capacity at up to 1000 full charge and discharge cycles.

Removable Batteries
Code:
Mac Laptop	Maximum Capacity	Capacity at 80%
MacBook 5020 mAh 4016 mAh
MacBook Pro 15"	5500 mAh 4400 mAh
MacBook Pro 17"	6400 mAh? 5120 mAh?
extracted from http://guides.macrumors.com/Laptop_Battery_Guide So basically (for people with removable batteries) if your "Full charge capacity (mAh)" is below the value on the right AND you are below 300 cycles AND have Applecare, get on the phone and get it replaced.

Edit: Maybe newer 15inch MBPs have 5600 mAh as mine is showing that value, even though my original one (which was replaced) was 5500 mAh. Time to call Apple soon, methinks :)
