I do four hours a week and one overnight shift a month, which is what they ask. They have a rota system which works quite well, at my branch anyway.

I worked as a Sam for a short while before some personal issues meant I wasn't able to give callers the support that I felt I ought to. So I resigned rather than take the chance of messing a callers head up more than before they called.

And knowing what the volunteers were/are like meant that I found it easy to ring at the time when I needed someone to talk to.

I'm really chuffed to see the usual response here when someone has a problem, the number of "MSN in trust" replies and the willingness to help out someone who's going through a difficult time.
