What is your Power On Hours Count?

Just putting up some info on my WD Black 500GB that's going on MM shortly and noticed the power on hours count...Now I rarely turn my PC off so the disks have been spinning almost constantly (which is a good thing really for lifespan :p). I was a little surprised I'd been running them so long!

Only been powered down 286 times too :eek:
All the drives were bought at the same time in October 2009.

If the SSD can last that long I will be mighty impressed :p
 
Was the drive second hand?

The reason I ask is that there are 784 days between 1 October 2009 and today and, based on 24/7 usage, that would give a Power On Hours Count of ~18,816 hours.

You seem to have an extra 1,000 or so hours on the drive.

Edit

Just noticed 826 days at the bottom which would mean approx 20 August 2009 if the drive has been on 24/7 since then.

The drive must be at least that old, probably older allowing for some down time.

You must live in some sort of time warp.

According to the Power On Hours Count it's been powered on for ~1,000 more hours than there are between October 2009 and now.

Its probably not _that_ accurate prolly within about 10% and also its likely the drive had some testing by the manufacturer before it was sold which is usually a fair few hours.
 
My general day to day drive in my file server currently reads 28812 (1200 days) Power on hours and 161 Power ups :)

The SSD in the same machine shows 9689 (403 days) with 28 power cycles, and that was purchased 22/9/2010 new (so 428 days ago) - so seems about right.
 
21.5K for one of my old WD 500gb hard drives... That is currently used as a storage drive so gets powered down a fair bit...

Actually thinking back, it did have about 500 hours (I can't remember exactly) on it when I got it as I always run new drives through HDtune.
 
Just checked all of mine -

1.5Tb Seagate 7200.12 - 747 days - my longest my a huge amount. It's been my permanently powered backup for about 3 years.
