I installed 7 on my WD 640GB and got 5.9. Then I installed it in VMWare running on the same drive and got 6.5 Must have been some kind of caching going on.
Also, one thing that people might not know is that to get more than 5.9, you need at least 1GB of contiguous free space on the drive. If you're being limited by this, 7 tells you if you click on 'more information' or similar after you do the benchmark. In that case, you need to defrag the disk.
I wondered why my system was bottlenecking at 5.9. Everything else is like 7.3 but it's my hard disk that brings it down to 5.9. This is useful info - cheers guys.
