No-one can know your potential line speeds without your line Attenuation, SNR Margin and current sync speed from your router. You can type your number in here: http://www.dslzoneuk.net/checker.php and check what BT think your line will get. This is very rough - my line was estimated at 3Mbit but I'm stable at 5.5Mbits.

Yes 20GB limit from 6AM to 1AM next day IIRC, then 1AM to 6AM is off peak as much as you like. There is one catch, being Option 1, your traffic has the lowest priority over the other 3 packages meaning your speeds at peak times will be lower than the other packages as they will have priority. Good value though for light users.

The reason why I decided to migrate to Zen was because I mainly see positive comments about their speed, reliability, customer support etc.

Also migration is quick as it took just over 24 hours :eek:
 
Gone from Pipex to Nildram. I have to say Nildram have been great, even dealing with nildram on the phone was a pleasure.

Yes, I was, sorry for not using quotes :). Good to hear their name isn't just that.

Having said that, I agree with the poster above in that nildram are very polite and friendly, much more so than Plusnet and seem to actually know what they are talking about - quite refreshing really as I've not experienced that for a good 1.5 years before plusnet became pants. The first year I was extremely happy, then it fell apart and finally, after 2.5 years, I just got fed up.

Neither have I, until the delayed emails of late - that was enough, along with general mal-feeling to get me to jump ship. I don't like excessive changes of T&C's nor do I like being throttled whilst I haven't even exceeded my quota. I am an adult and want to be treated like one.

They are too expensive for what they offer IMO. 10GB peak time cap before your on management for £22 a month.
 
Dunno mate, my dad probably done one of the most docile things yet and signed us up to TalkTalk :o

For £20 id be tempted to say check out Demon, but i havent really heard anything of them in a while.

Just like to say, i have been with NDO\NAMESCO for a few years now and i can't remember having a problem that was their fault, the only downtime i have had has been down to BT working at the exchange.
Very good speeds that never fluctuate, 24/7 uk based tech support at normal call rates. Also there is no traffic shaping or p2p restrictions or anything like that.

They are not the cheapest out there, but you know what they say.
I am on their FUP package which is 60gb\ month, which is just right for me.

p.s.
I never recommend ISP's, that how you can lose friends, because things always change, i am just stating my experience with then.

What’s the point in that, Nildram is owned by Pipex?

Despite Pipex saying they were going to touch Nildrams network they have, just last week they started depeering Nildrams links and pushing them through the pipex network along with imposing new harsh peering rules (to peer with pipex you now need to push about 1.5Gbit!)

All in all this can only be bad news for pipex/nildram customers as it means that where as before most ISP's peered directly with pipex over the various London based peering points (which is generally the fastest and cheapest way to get into one-another’s networks) and now this may no longer be the case.

My advice would be to steer clear of Pipex/Nildram until they make there intentions clear!

I knew Nildram were owned by Pipex, but as of yet they haven't impossed any port throttling or traffic-shaping? I still think I might have a dabble? It's only a month contract...

Been with 3 ADSL ISP's since our exchange was enabled a few years ago.

Pipex were first and they were OK really, I understand they are capping and throttling now though? I then switched to Plusnet after advice from friends, this was before they went downhill late last year, worst move I ever made.

Now with Zen paying £30 per month for the original no caps, unthrottled 1mb service, and its very quick and ultra reliable, so much so I'm tempted not to ever bother with capped MaxDSL. I can download well in excess of 100 gig a month with this account if I want to, MaxDSL looks like its pretty flakey for a lot of people as well, even after the 10 or so days.
